The 2010 City of the Angels Film Festival at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) seeks to highlight the hidden gems of world cinema. From March 12th through 14th, the festival will screen some of the best and most significant dramatic features and documentaries from the contemporary film scene.

Now in its 16th edition, City of the Angels was originally created as a response to the brokenness experienced by the city of Los Angeles in the aftermath of the 1992 uprisings, following the verdict of the Rodney King incident. While others sought to “Rebuild L.A” through new buildings and businesses, the founders of City of the Angels Film Festival sought another way. They brought together spiritually sensitive filmmakers with cinematically astute thinkers and theologians, creating a new forum for thoughtful and provocative dialogue among the people of our city.

This year's highlight includes the World Premiere of the documentary feature 1040, the LA Premiere of the 2009 Venice Film Festival highlight LOURDES, Oscar nominated doc BURMA VJ, Ramin Bahrani's acclaimed feature GOODBYE SOLO, Hilla Medalia's powerful AFTER THE STORM, as well as the works by such modern masters as Olivier Assayas (SUMMER HOURS), Hirokazu Kore-eda (STILL WALKING).  Join us at the DGA this March for a celebration of the best of contemporary cinema!
